Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking entry level Structural Engineers to grow with our team by establishing and applying company standards and tools. You will contribute to project success using current design documentation practices and software.

Responsibilities include analyzing structural systems, preparing calculations, and supporting design and bid activities across North American nuclear projects. Opportunities for travel to client sites and coordination with vendors are possible.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited degree in civil/structural engineering required.
  • EIT certification preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • GPA above 3.0 preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with structural analysis software is a plus.
  • Must be a US citizen with badge access and able to pass security/background checks.

  • Apply knowledge of materials, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment/piping supports, and foundations.
  • Assist in preparing design calculation packages and develop structural specs; support drawing development for construction activities.
  • Support structural estimation and bid development for proposals.
  • Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews or plant site coordination may be required.

Position Overview

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking entry level Structural Engineers. We are looking for ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools while also using these standards and tools to contribute to project success. Candidates shall be familiar with current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software with an understanding of design documentation creation and layouts.

Location

This role is in Oak Ridge, TN or Lenexa, KS.

Responsibilities
  • Apply your knowledge of materials, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design
  • You will perform the structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations, for both static and dynamic load cases for a variety of projects
  • Assist in the preparation of design calculation packages, develop structural technical specifications, and support designers with design drawing development (based on the analysis performed) for use in work package development and construction activities
  • Support structural estimation and bid development for project proposals.
  • There is the potential for you to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited university required; EIT certification preferred
  • Must be legally authorized to work without requiring sponsorship for employement to begin or continue employment with our company
  • GPA above 3.0 preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; preferred experience with structural analysis software (SAP2000, RISA connection, AutoCAD/Revit, FEA software)
  • Strong work ethic and initiative required
  • Must be a US citizen with documentation for badge access
  • Pass a security questionnaire and background check appropriate to position duties
