KPFF Consulting Engineers in Birmingham invites a Structural Engineer with 4+ years to join our growing team. You will contribute to structural projects from concept through construction, collaborating with engineers, BIM professionals, and clients across the country.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum 4 years of structural engineering design experience (project management a plus).
• Proficiency with ETABS, RAM Structural System, RISA‑3D or similar.
• Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC.
• Experience with BIM software such as Revit.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of structural engineering projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
• Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building types and materials
• Collaborate with clients to understand project goals and maintain clear, consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle
• Participate in feasibility studies, site investigations, and structural assessments, as needed
• Prepare, review, and coordinate engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports in accordance with applicable building codes
• Monitor project progress, identify risks or challenges, and implement mitigation strategies to support successful outcomes
• Promote compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while fostering a culture of safety
