Job summary

HDR is seeking a Structural Engineer (Buildings) in Ohio to design and optimize building structures within HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group. You will collaborate with architects, MEP, and civil teams to deliver high-performance structures and ensure code compliance.

You will mentor interns and EITs while coordinating workload, developing design documents, and supporting construction administration tasks. HDR emphasizes employee ownership and a culture of inclusion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license (PE) recognized by local board.
• Previous structural engineering experience.
• Experience with architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firms.
• Commitment to employee-owned culture.
• Proficiency with design software like AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, STAAD, etc.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical expert in structural engineering on projects.
• Coordinate the structural design team from schematic to contract documents.
• Lead multi-disciplinary collaboration with architecture, MEP, civil.
• Analyze and design superstructure components for buildings.
• Mentor structural interns and EITs; review docs for conflicts.
• Engage with authorities for code compliance.
• Participate in design development and site reviews with PM.
• Coordinate workload to meet schedule.
• Perform construction administration tasks (submittals, RFIs).
• Incorporate changes into project documents.
• Write and edit structural specifications; perform calculations.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
