Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Austin, TX to provide expert structural design and develop contracts for major projects. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Civil/Structural Engineering and a minimum of 10 years’ experience with a PE license.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE, and Microsoft Office is essential. You will lead project planning, supervise professionals, and mentor junior staff while delivering constructible, client-focused documents in an employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
• Experience in design calculations and layouts
• Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
• Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in structural engineering as it relates to projects; resolve problems of greater scope and complexity
• Plan and develop projects or design activities with a significant impact on major company programs as needed
• Plan, organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians
• Mentor and help develop younger staff
• Put together a full set of Contract Documents (plans and specifications) that are constructible and meets client(s) standards as applicable
• Perform other duties as needed
