Job summary

JP Cullen is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer to support planning, analysis, design, coordination and execution of structural systems on complex construction projects in Wisconsin.

The role requires a PE license in Structural Engineering and 12+ years of progressive experience with knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood, plus ability to read drawings and coordinate across disciplines in office and field settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• PE license in Structural Engineering or equivalent registration; ability to obtain additional licenses as needed.
• At least 12+ years of progressive engineering experience in structural system design, analysis, and project execution.
• Knowledge of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, foundations, and lateral-force-resisting systems.
• Working knowledge of building codes, material standards, and structural design requirements.
• Ability to read, interpret, and produce construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities; willing to work in office and on active job sites.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, analysis, design, and coordination of structural systems such as foundations, steel, concrete, masonry, and related components.
• Perform structural calculations for gravity, lateral, and temporary loads per codes.
• Develop complete structural documents: plans, calculations, specifications.
• Review drawings for constructability, coordination, and code compliance.
• Assist with system selection, connections, and construction sequencing strategies.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, site engineers, architects, and trade partners to resolve issues.
• Participate in coordination meetings with project teams and specialty engineers.
• Review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and delegated-design documents.
• Conduct field observations to verify alignment with drawings and intent.
• Support evaluation of existing structures, temporary conditions, and project closeout documentation.
• Uphold JP Cullen’s safety, quality, and teamwork standards on every project.
