Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• PE license in Structural Engineering or equivalent registration.
• 12+ years of progressive engineering experience in structural design, analysis, and project execution.
• Ability to obtain additional state or regional licenses as required.
• Knowledge of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, foundations, and lateral-force-resisting systems.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes, material standards, and structural design requirements.
• Ability to read, interpret, and produce construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
• Willingness to work in both office and active jobsite environments.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, analysis, design, and coordination of structural systems, including foundations, structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and related building components.
• Perform structural calculations and analyses for gravity, lateral, and temporary loads in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Develop complete structural engineering documents, including plans, details, calculations, and specifications.
• Review drawings and specifications for constructability, coordination, and code compliance.
• Assist with structural scope development, system selection, connection concepts, and construction sequencing strategies.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Superintendents, architects, and trade partners to resolve design and field issues.
• Participate in coordination meetings with project teams, specialty engineers, trade partners.
• Review structural submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and delegated-design documents.
• Conduct field observations to verify that structural work aligns with drawings, specifications, and design intent.
• Support evaluation of existing structures, temporary conditions, repair solutions, and project closeout documentation.
• Uphold JP Cullen’s standards for safety, quality, and teamwork on every project.
