Job Description
Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Senior Structural Engineer-Hydropower Lead in either Portland, Oregon, or Redmond, Washington, to develop hydropower engineering work in the region and support projects across Kleinschmidt. Our flexibility and core value of relationships allow us to offer employees the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment.
Salary: $115,000 - $185,000/year (based on experience)
Knowledgeable: A licensed Professional Engineer with a BS in Civil Engineering, and at least 15 years of experience in hydropower engineering, business development, client management, and project management. Knowledge of standards and codes applicable to structural engineering is required. Experience with analysis and design of concrete and steel structures related to water, including concrete dams, gates, spillways, penstocks, and powerhouse structures. Proven ability to coordinate multidiscipline design teams with hydrology/hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical engineers. Field experience working with clients and contractors during project planning and construction. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and a passion for mentoring junior staff.
Project Manager: Experience managing large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects, working directly with senior leadership and project teams to provide practical solutions for renewable energy, water, and environmental challenges.
Relationship-focused: Ability to establish and maintain long-term client relationships, working effectively with multidisciplinary teams from analysis and design to construction.
This role involves designing and managing hydroelectric and fisheries-related facilities, integrating civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic engineering skills. Responsibilities include developing hydropower engineering projects, fostering client relationships, managing multidisciplinary project teams, and mentoring staff in the western U.S.
