Job description

Gedeon GRC is seeking a Director of Civil Engineering to join our firm.

This director is responsible for the overall coordination at all levels during planning, design, and implementation of engineering projects to ensure project completion in an efficient manner.

Salary Range:

$165,000-$214,000 annually, pay commensurate with experience.

Location:

Options of Remote, Hybrid (local to the NYC Metro Area), or in-office at our Syosset NY, Princeton, NJ, or Newark, NJ locations.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform quality review of contract documents including plans, specifications, and estimates.
  2. Manage projects, clients, staff, safety, and schedules within the Civil Department.
  3. Manage financial performance of design projects.
  4. Collaborate with VP to evaluate team members on performance.
  5. Lead engineering team in formulating plans, designs, cost estimates, and specifications for civil and traffic projects from concept to bid documents.
  6. Hands-on design using Civil3D for preparing design plans.
  7. Perform calculations and prepare reports for storm drainage, stormwater management, and water quality treatment systems.
  8. Review and approve engineering designs.
  9. Travel to job sites to ensure design specifications and standards are met.
  10. Provide technical expertise regarding design work to personnel.
  11. Spearhead client meetings such as proposals, progress updates, and project completions.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. NY/NJ Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  3. Minimum of 10 years of related experience in the A/E/C industry.
  4. Knowledge of project management principles in civil and traffic engineering design.
  5. Experience with NYSDOT is mandatory.
  6. Familiarity with New York city and state agencies and their design criteria.
  7. Extensive experience in roadway engineering, including alignments, storm drainage, utility design, and related areas.
  8. Knowledge of federal and state design guidelines such as AASHTO.
  9. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Inroads, Bluebeam, and Adobe.
  10. Experience managing clients, projects, and engineering staff.
  11. Ability to create and finalize construction drawings.
  12. Strong skills in project management software like Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  13. Understanding of strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, and coordination.
  14. Expertise in technical design techniques and principles.
  15. Knowledge of government and OSHA regulations and safety procedures.
