Job summary

US Army Corps of Engineers is seeking a Civil Engineer (Structural) at the GS-12 level in Washington. The role involves technical leadership for structural features of civil works projects and performing complex designs and analyses.

You will prepare drawings, specifications, and documentation, review in-house and external designs, and mentor junior engineers to ensure adherence to current design criteria and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required; ABET-accredited program preferred.
• Professional Engineer licensure or ability to obtain licensure is highly desirable.
• Combination of education and experience may be considered as listed in Federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering tasks for civil works projects.
• Perform designs and analyses under static and dynamic loads (hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, wind, snow, ice, seismic).
• Create preliminary and final structural designs with drawings and specs.
• Review designs for compliance with criteria and standards.
• Mentor junior engineers.
