Job summary

The US Army Corps of Engineers is seeking a Civil Engineer (Structural) at GS-12 in Oregon to lead structural design for civil works projects such as hydropower, navigation, and flood protection. You will perform static and dynamic analyses, develop detailed designs, and coordinate with teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering and professional experience in design, analyses, and field inspections.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering; ABET-accredited program preferred.
Proven experience in design and analysis of structural systems per codes.
Ability to perform field inspections and document results.
Experience with structural analysis methods and reporting.

Responsibilities

Serve as technical lead for structural features of civil works projects including hydropower, navigation, fish passage, recreation, and flood protection.
Prepare designs and analyses of structural components under static and dynamic loads (hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, wind, snow, ice, seismic).
Perform preliminary and final structural design, including indeterminate analyses, advanced modeling, and finite element analyses.
Prepare drawings, specifications, analyses, and documentation for structural designs with diverse materials.
Review in-house and architect-engineer designs and ensure conformance with criteria.
Perform site visit inspections and report results.
Act as a specialist in structural engineering principles and data processing to resolve issues.
Mentor junior engineers.
