Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer in the New York City area. The role involves conducting critical structural analyses, reviewing designs for constructability, and mitigating design or construction risks as part of design-build and design-bid-build projects.

Qualified candidates hold a PE (Structural) license, and have experience across all design phases. Expect collaboration with multiple disciplines, rigorous documentation, and up to 25% U.S. travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science from an accredited Civil Engineering (Structural) program with 4 years of industry experience as a Structural Engineer or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Professional Engineer (Structural) license, required.
• Design experience across projects through all phases from concept to construction.
• Ability to think and write in a highly structured manner with creativity to develop specialized solutions and anticipate challenges.
• U.S. travel up to 25%.
• Knowledge of U.S. building design codes and material standards and experience with structural analysis software and BIM tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical reviews of projects to assess constructability, analyze design details, perform quantity takeoffs, and recommend construction sequencing for structural work.
• Review and evaluate project designs, program intent, contractual obligations, division of responsibilities, and deliverables.
• Review and assess project documentation such as drawings, basis of design documents, specifications, reports, calculations, and shop drawings related to structural design.
• Analyze elements of structural systems, verify design sufficiency, and identify optimization opportunities.
• Propose solutions to Design/Construction teams for design optimization, risk management, and constructability improvements.
• Document structural review activities in formal reports, technical memos, and spreadsheets; maintain clear communication with project teams.
