Job summary

Schnabel's Sacramento office seeks a Senior Engineer (Senior Associate level) in Structural Engineering with expertise in dam design and hydraulic structures. Lead structural analysis and grow the structural engineering team on heavy civil projects.

The ideal candidate holds a California PE, 20+ years of experience, and a Master’s in Civil Engineering. You will mentor staff and produce drawings and calculations using SAP2000, LS-DYNA, ABAQUS, and ANSYS, collaborating with clients and contractors.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 20+ years of structural engineering experience in dams, hydraulic structures, and heavy civil.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in California.
• Experience with FE analysis tools: SAP2000, LS-DYNA, ABAQUS, ANSYS.
• Ability to lead and mentor engineers and collaborate with owners/contractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering tasks for dams, hydraulic structures, and heavy civil infrastructure.
• Prepare design calculations and construction drawings across project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers and develop finite element models.
• Collaborate with owners, contractors, architects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Travel to project sites and Schnabel offices as needed.
