Job summary

LVI Associates is actively seeking a licensed Structural Engineer (PE) to join its New York team. This role focuses on structural design, assessment, rehabilitation, and investigation across diverse projects, with progression toward project management and client leadership.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of structural engineering experience in consulting or design.
  • Strong background in calculations, analysis, and construction documentation.
  • Experience with structural analysis software and BIM tools (Revit preferred).
  • Strong written communication and ability to prepare technical reports.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for building and support structures using steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and other materials.
  • Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, and supporting design documentation.
  • Prepare construction drawings, details, specifications, and related deliverables.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to contractor inquiries, and support construction-phase services.
  • Conduct site visits to document existing conditions and observe construction progress.
  • Evaluate existing structures and develop repair, rehabilitation, strengthening, or retrofit solutions.
  • Participate in forensic investigations and structural assessments as required.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines and project stakeholders throughout project development.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide technical guidance throughout project execution.
  • Support proposal preparation, technical narratives, and business development initiatives.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or challenges.

About the Opportunity

A growing multidisciplinary consulting firm is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer (PE) to join its New York team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects while developing expertise in structural design, assessment, rehabilitation, and investigation work. The position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a hands‑on technical role but is also interested in progressing into project management, client interaction, and leadership responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building and support structure projects utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and other construction materials.
  • Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, and supporting design documentation.
