Job summary

Bennett & Pless in Nashville, TN is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead a team in designing and analyzing structural systems across manufacturing, data centers, commercial developments, and historic projects.

You will mentor junior staff, oversee design calculations, and coordinate with architects and contractors to meet client expectations and company standards. Strong leadership and project-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or Structural Engineer (SE) license.
A minimum of 8 years of structural engineering experience, with emphasis on building design.
Prior people management experience preferred.
Proficiency with industry-standard software such as Tekla Structural Designer, ETABS, SAFE, SAP, Microsoft Office, Bentley RAM products, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt, etc.
Project management experience or capability is required.
Experience designing with steel, concrete, and masonry for low- to mid-rise structures.
Working knowledge of Revit preferred.
Client management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Engage with clients and participate in meetings with architects and contractors; review structural documentation and provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff.
Lead and oversee structural design calculations, construction document preparation, shop drawing and submittal reviews, site observations, and responses to RFIs.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure deliverables align with client expectations and meet Bennett & Pless quality standards.
Perform QA/QC reviews of work prepared by others.
Mentor and guide the engineering team, supporting their technical development, professional growth, and career advancement.
