Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural design activities for complex building projects in Houston, TX. You will act as a technical expert, plan and supervise projects, and contribute to the firm's growth within the Building Engineering Services Group.

The role emphasizes experience in vertical building design with healthcare and mission-critical markets, and requires a PE license and proficiency with REVIT, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS and SAFE.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architectural Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Professional engineer license recognized by local licensing board (e.g., PE or P.Eng).

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop projects or design activities.
• Supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians.
• Serve as Project Manager for structural discipline on larger projects.

In the role of Senior Structural Engineer, we'll count on you to:

• Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in structural engineering as it relates to projects; resolve problems of greater scope and complexity

Plan and develop projects or design activities

• Plan, organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians
• Serve as Project Manager for the structural discipline on larger projects, though project management is not the focus of this position
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Architectural Engineering, structural emphasis, or Masters degree in Structural Engineering

Proficient using REVIT and BlueBeam

Strong experience in vertical building design, with emphasis in healthcare and mission critical markets

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

• Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
• Experience in design calculations and layouts
• Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
• Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
