Job summary

ABL USA, Inc. in Houston, TX, seeks a Sr. Structural Engineer to lead marine and offshore structural analyses. You will perform FEMAP/ANSYS studies, develop sea-fastening and grillage designs, and contribute to the design of jack-ups, semisubmersibles, MOPUs, FPSOs, and wind farm foundations.

You will write technical reports, liaise with clients and class societies, and support site-specific assessments and transport studies, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
• 3 years of relevant experience, including Site-Specific Assessments (SSAs) for jack-up rigs and design/fabrication of sea-fastening and grillage, FEMAP, ANSYS, SACS, Multisurf, and Classification society rules.

Responsibilities

• Undertake complex marine engineering projects with focus on local and global structural assessments.
• Carry out FEMAP/ANSYS analyses for equipment and structures.
• Design and analyze sea-fastening and grillage for various platforms including jack-ups, semisubmersibles, MOPUs, FPSOs and wind foundations.
• Perform offshore analyses, loadouts, and transport studies.
• Provide guidance on design drawings and perform engineering checks for client deliveries.

What will you be doing?

• Undertake complex marine engineering projects with a primary focus on local and global structural assessments involving sea-fastening and grillage design for clients in the oil & gas, renewable energy, and maritime sectors.
• Carry out Finite Element analysis of various equipment and structures using FEMAP and ANSYS software.
• Carry out a wide range of design and analyses for floating and fixed structures, including Jack-ups, semisubmersibles, MOPUs, lift boats, FPSOs, and wind farm foundations.
• Perform analyses for offshore installations, loadouts, and transport studies.
• Carry out Jack-up Site-Specific Assessments, Punch-Through Analyses, and Transportation Studies using Structural Analysis Computer System (SACS) and MultiSurf software.
• Provide guidance and support to designers/draft persons for design drawings and provide engineering checks of the drawings for client deliveries.
• Deliver conceptual and detailed structural designs based on project specifications following applicable standards and codes.
• Write and edit technical reports and liaise between client and class.

What are we looking for?

• Requires Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering, and 3 years of experience. 1 year must include experience with Site-Specific-Assessments (SSAs) for jack-up rigs, design and fabrication of sea-fastening and grillage, FEMAP, ANSYS, SACS, Multisurf, and Classification society rules and standards.
