Overview of Position

Founded in 1892, by Frank Osborn who authored the popular engineering handbook Osborn’s Tables of Moments of Inertia and Squares of Radii of Gyration, which featured working strengths of steel members, timber beams and columns, and standard loads, unit stresses and constants for a variety of structures. The book quickly became a much-used industry text, the forerunner to today’s popular AISC Steel Construction Manual. Join the firm to continue the legacy that he has built in the Structural Field.

Osborn Engineering is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with 5-10 years of experience for our Cincinnati office location who will report to the Director of Structural Engineering. The ideal candidate will have structural engineering experience in a consulting engineering environment working with private and public sector clients.

Position Responsibilities

• Coordinating Structural design with MEPFC consultants.
• Coordinating with Architects, Clients, and Contractors.
• Maintain client relationships.
• Manage multiple projects at various stages in design.
• Write project specifications.
• Knowledge of Post tension design is a plus.
• Manage/Help production of documents for the project in Revit / AutoCAD.
• Perform detailed design and analysis of the project using either RISA suite, Tedds, or Enercalc.
• Gravity – Roof, Floors, Walls, and Foundations.
• Lateral – Main Lateral load resisting elements + Components and Cladding.
• Perform cost estimation and value engineering when required.
• Perform site visits for collecting existing information or site observations.
• Respond to permit comments, RFIs, and Change orders.
• Attend project coordination meetings.
• Help with proposal writing and fee estimation.
• Perform QAQC on projects done by other engineers.
• Review shop drawings and inspection reports.
• Help with maintaining project schedule.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Proactive and collaborative team member.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

• BS in Structural Engineering.
• 5-10 years of structural design experience.
• Working knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as REVIT, RISA 3D, RISA Floor, ADAPT.
• Proficient knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices– IBC, AISC, ACI, NDS, AISI.
• Strong technical knowledge – Concrete, Steel, Wood, Masonry, and Cold-form.
• Midrise multifamily or commercial office buildings design experience.
• Experience in designing Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects is a plus.
• PE/SE License preferred.
