Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is seeking a Structural Designer to join our interdisciplinary engineering team. You will focus on structural design for energy-related infrastructure and contribute to design-build delivery for large-scale projects across North America, collaborating with civil, structural, geotechnical, and construction teams.

The role involves creating 2D/3D structural models, developing construction drawings, and supporting design production from concept sketches

Qualifications

• 5+ years drafting in civil/structural, substation, or transmission design.
• 2+ years in electric/power utility CAD/design.
• Experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete detailing and BOM creation.
• Basic knowledge of ASTM/AISC/ACI standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams.
• Ability to work with supervision in a small/medium office.
• Experience with Vault, Advance Steel, Inventor, and Revit is preferred.
• Familiarity with substation electrical/structural components.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 2D & 3D models of structural framing and reinforced concrete.
• Produce detailed design drawings including plans, sections, elevations and 3D models.
• Work on structural and foundation design from inception to completion.
• Interface with project teams and learn new software.
• Communicate across teams to prevent design conflicts.
• Assist engineers in reviewing fabrication and reinforced concrete drawings.
• Research information in catalogs, specifications, standards.
• Apply quality control procedures to ensure workmanship quality.
• Learn and apply corporate engineering practices.
• Flag project-related problems and propose solutions.
• Travel as needed.
• Work under supervision of Lead Designer or Engineering Manager.
