- Performs routine design tasks such as member design, load calculation, and some shop drawing review (10%).
- Encouraged to solve engineering problems using experience, judgment and education but is expected to ask for assistance when needed (5%).
- Input of data into pre-written computer programs. Review and understanding of output (5%).
- Research code issues and ask general questions of code officials (5%).
- Expected to become proficient in the use of a computer for design and CAD/Revit applications (10%).
- Assist in preparation of drawings for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by drafters (5%).
- Organize and maintain project files. Maintain neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to information required by other team members (5%).
- Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for design such as gravity design, lateral analysis, and connection design (5%).
- Layout structural system based on schematic layout by Senior Level Engineer (10%).
- Understands and can assemble a set of structural drawings (10%).
- Research design options and document findings for Senior Level Engineer (5%).
- Provide information to Senior Level Engineer for incorporation into specifications (5%).
- Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards (5%).
- Keep Senior Level Engineer informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services (5%).
- Work from home two days per week.
Requirements:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field, or foreign equivalent and 3 years of related structural design experience. This position also requires:
- 3 years of experience with ETABS and Ram Concept
- 2 years of experience with Adapt 2D
- 1 year of experience with Risa 3D, Adapt Felt, Enercalc, Ram Structural System, SAFE, Bluebeam Revu, SPColumn, SPWall, Mathcad, Hilti Profis, Simpson Anchor Designer, Mecawind, Revit, and CSICol
