Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering Group is seeking a Senior Structural Designer to join our team. You will work with BIM to develop foundations and steel structures, coordinate with design engineers, and ensure designs meet safety and operability requirements.

The ideal candidate has 9+ years of Tekla-based structural design experience, strong mentoring skills, and the ability to lead drafting activities across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Vocational CAD training with 9+ years of structural design experience using Tekla.
• Ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents.
• Leadership and mentoring of less experienced designers.
• Basic knowledge of latest computer operating systems.
• Effective written and verbal communication with team members.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design team to review and exchange project information.
• Check design for safety, operability, and maintainability before submission.
• Report task progress to Lead Designer.
• Develop BIM models for foundations and steel structures with engineers.
• Leverage BIM to create plans, drawings, and details.
• Help develop department standards and tools.
• Mentor team members in design and modeling techniques.
• Resolve design issues with input from responsible engineer.
