Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior structural drafter for onsite work in Bridgman, MI. The role focuses on developing 3D plant layout drawings and leading structural design teams in coordinated model phases.

Responsibilities include designing supports and foundations, reviewing layout drawings, and mentoring junior drafters. The position offers per diem for qualifying employees and an award-winning benefits package.

Qualifications

• An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and 1 or more years drafting course work or equivalent technical experience.
• 10 or more years of detailed design experience in the development of structural steel design and reinforced concrete design drawings.
• Proficiency with design software tools in executing 3D plant layout models.
• Experience in the review of structural layout drawings involving steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, foundations, and rebar detailing.
• Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural physical layout drawings in a 3D model.
• Design structural supports and foundations; troubleshoot structural issues.
• Utilize 3D modeling software to generate structural design schematics.
• Act as the structural design team lead coordinating detailed design phases for the integrated model.
• Coordinate and guide other designers and project team members to ensure complete and timely design.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers; assist senior staff in field walkdowns.
