Job summary

Kiewit seeks a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join the Design Engineering team within the Power division. This role supports construction processes through design innovation, calculations, plan development, and risk mitigation to ensure safe, cost-effective outcomes for projects across North America.

The position offers multiple U.S. office locations, with Richmond, VA and other cities supporting hybrid/in-office arrangements as projects scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 10–20 years in Industrial or Power Generation industries.
• Ability to determine methods and processes independently.
• Experience training and leading engineer teams.
• Leads complex work and coordinates within discipline.
• Delivers clear written and verbal presentations.

Responsibilities

• Develops and checks designs; reviews technical work.
• Identifies alternative solutions for cost and quality.
• Creates strategy to solve complex engineering challenges.
• Collaborates with groups to reach optimal solutions.
• Reviews standards application and interprets codes.
• Leads projects from conception to budget/schedule alignment.
• Mentors engineers and manages multiple assignments.
• Ensures customer needs are understood and met.
