Job summary

VHB is seeking aStructural Engineer to lead planning, analysis, and design of transportation-related building structures, including stations and parking facilities. The role focuses on collaboration within a hybrid work setting across Washington DC and Tysons Corner VA, with growth opportunities in VHB's building design practice.

The candidate should bring 5–8 years of structural experience, PE licensure or promise, and proficiency with major BIM/analysis tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required, master’s preferred (may substitute for 1 year of experience).
• Minimum 5-8 years of structural engineering experience.
• Licensed PE or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Develops, organizes, and implements structural planning, analysis, preliminary and final design documents for transportation-related building structures.
• Mentors junior team members in design plans, oversight, specifications, calculations, load ratings and reports.
• Monitors project budgets and schedules.
• Assists with proposals and presentations for rail/transit pursuits.
• Supports building structural projects across VHB’s footprint.
