Volkert, Inc. is seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer for the Southeast Region, located in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, or Chipley, FL. A Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is required, with 5–10 years of bridge design experience and a PE credential.

Responsibilities include design and repair of highway bridges, load ratings, drawings, and cost estimates. Proficiency in Open Bridge, MicroStation, and AutoCAD is required, along with strong communication skills and a valid

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of bridge design experience.
• Recent experience in steel and/or concrete bridge design.
• PE required.
• FDOT experience required.
• Familiarity with bridge design software: Open Bridge, Leap Bridge, CSI Bridge, AASHTO BrR.
• Experience with Open Bridge, MicroStation, AutoCAD drawing preparation.
• Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Perform assignments applying structural engineering principles.
• Design and repair highway bridges, retaining walls, and bridge load ratings; review drawings and estimate costs.
• Analyze structures using structural software.
• Prepare or check calculations and details for steel and concrete elements.
• Prepare structural drawings in Open Bridge, MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Coordinate with roadway and drainage teams to ensure conformance with structural drawings.
• Collaborate with the Southeast Region Structures Team.
