Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior structural analyst to support ground support equipment (GSE) and tooling used in manufacturing and assembly of structural components. You will conduct FEA and classical analyses, review designs, and mentor tooling designers on stress, stability, and fracture analysis.

You will lead vendor tooling projects, collaborate across cross-functional teams, and optimize risk, cost, and performance trade-offs in a fast-paced aerospace environment in Seattle, WA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (minimum).
• Experience analyzing ground support equipment (GSE) or tooling in aerospace/auto-like industries.
• Experience creating/validating FEMs with ANSYS, NX Simulation, or Nastran.
• Proficiency generating free-body diagrams to compute loads.
• Experience with steel/aluminum tooling, fixtures, and weldments.
• Proficiency in bolted/jointed and welded joint hand calculations.
• Familiarity with structural codes (AISC-360, ASME B30/31, ASME BTH-1).

Responsibilities

• Perform strength assessments using classical analysis and FEM for tooling and GSE.
• Document and review stress analyses to facilitate Engineering release.
• Mentor tooling designers on stress, stability, and fracture analysis.
• Provide design guidance on risk, cost, and performance trade-offs.
• Support cross-functional teams with design development inputs.
• Lead conceptual and detailed analysis for tooling and equipment manufacturing and assembly.
• Serve as technical point of contact for vendor-developed tooling projects.
