Job summary

LTA Research & Exploration in Sunnyvale, CA, seeks a structures engineer to tackle advanced aerospace structural challenges in a fast-moving hardware program. You will perform FEA on airframe and equipment mounts, develop finite element models, and size components from concept to CAD completion.

You will correlate models to ground tests, support design trades, and document analysis methods for formal reports, while collaborating with Systems, Avionics, and Manufacturing to integrate structures

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or closely related field.
• 5+ years of experience in structural design and/or analysis.
• Hands-on experience with FEA software (FEMAP, Nastran, ANSYS, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis (static, buckling, and modal) on airframe and equipment structures using FEA tools.
• Develop and maintain finite element models, including mesh generation and load case setup.
• Size structures and joints from concept sketches through detailed CAD.
• Correlate analytical models against test data (static and modal tests).
• Collaborate with Systems, Avionics, Materials & Testing, and Manufacturing teams.
