Job summary

Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) seeks a senior engineering consultant to join our Nuclear business unit. The role can be remote or based in San Jose, CA; Centennial, CO; or Huntersville, NC.

You will perform advanced finite element analyses and fatigue/fracture mechanics work for the energy sector, leading FE teams and coordinating with clients. Ideal candidates have 8+ years (MS) or 10+ years (BS) in mechanical engineering, with strong ASME knowledge and Python scripting experience.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
• 8+ years with MS or 10+ years with BS of related engineering experience.
• Advanced finite element analysis of vessel, piping, valves and other nuclear components.
• Experience with mechanical, thermal, and modal analyses, and non-linear metallic material models.
• Advanced skills in ANSYS APDL/Workbench; ABAQUS is a plus.
• Proficiency in ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Section III and XI).
• Proficiency in writing technical reports and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Stress analysis of power plant structures, pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment and other power plant components using classical and numerical methods.
• Stress analyses following ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code guidelines.
• Lead and support the finite element analysis team.
• Support fatigue management programs for various components.
• Participate in design and repair projects of pressure vessel/piping components.
• Communicate results and analyses to clients and teams.
• Participate in client, vendor, and internal team meetings.
