At BioRender, we’re on a mission to accelerate the world’s ability to learn, discover, and communicate science – transforming how knowledge is shared and making science open, collaborative, and easily understandable by all.
We’re shaping the future of science communication and are looking for talented individuals to help bring this vision to life!
Strategic Finance advises executive leadership on BioRender’s growth strategy as we expand our product offerings, sales motions, and geographies. As a key member of a small team, you'll own the economics behind some of BioRender’s biggest decisions: where we invest, what we charge, and what we expect back. This is not a typical reporting-heavy finance role: we are looking for a builder who is curious about our customers and our product.
You’ll report to a leader on our Strategic Finance team and partner with colleagues across the business, including sales, marketing, product, engineering, design, people, and IT.
Here’s the kind of work on our plate. In a given quarter you'd be deep in two or three:
Model our pricing and packaging changes end to end (willingness to pay, revenue impact, churn risk), then work with product and go-to-market to launch them
Build the go-to-market acquisition forecast models behind our ARR targets, partnering with revenue operations and setting the final number with leadership
Help run our annual planning process, from early scenarios to department budgets and securing founder approval
Own analyses of our unit economics, including CAC payback and LTV:CAC by segment and channel, and say where growth spend is paying off and where it isn't
Size our investment opportunities before we commit the next dollar or hire, then come back after and say whether it worked
Manage spend and headcount approvals with department leaders, and track actuals against plan
Partner with accounting, data science, AI engineering, and revenue operations to build the datasets, definitions, and dashboards that make our analysis automated and repeatable
Relevant experience: investment banking, transaction advisory, equity research, consulting, finance or operations at a technology company, or an equivalent analytical role
We are looking for the right person and will level the role to fit your experience
Outstanding financial modeling: you can build a complex operating model with few errors, then boil it down to one executive summary tab
Operational aptitude: you see the business as a living organism of people and parts, not a clean P&L. You can sit with a sales leader or an engineer and learn the business in their language
Judgment in the weeds: you dig into imperfect data sources, reconcile where they conflict, decide what to trust, and know when the numbers are good enough to act on. Each pass leaves the data better than you found it
Simple and clear communication: you capture a messy analysis in three sentences and one chart, then defend the recommendation in the room
Comfort with ambiguity: there is no playbook. You’ll write it with us as the business evolves
(Nice to have) Building with AI and data science: Beyond Excel, SQL, Python and AI coding tools are your toolkit. You help us invent what an AI-native strategic finance team looks like
We are mission-driven: we work collaboratively towards our shared vision of improving scientific communication and accelerating scientific discovery. BioRender figures have appeared in more than 54,000 publications!
BioRender is loved by millions! We have a world-class NPS and a community of loyal fans and users in 200+ countries!
