Job summary

Apple Inc. in Seattle seeks a Site Reliability Engineer for the Elastic Disk SRE team. You will own storage services that power Apple Cloud, balancing reliability, performance, and scale across data centers.

You’ll work on tuning the storage stack, automation, and incident response, with on-call duties and cross-site collaboration to drive platform resilience and efficiency for hundreds of millions of users.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building, operating, and scaling distributed storage systems.
• Proficient in Go, Java, Python, or Rust.
• Strong understanding of Linux storage (LVM, XFS, ext4, S3, Ceph, etc.).
• Knowledge of Linux internals, networking, and distributed systems.
• Experience with provisioning, data migration, backup/recovery, and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Own design and deployment of storage services used by Apple Cloud.
• Drive technical standards and project delivery across two sites.
• Handle on-call alerts and maintain service availability.
• Collaborate with peers to improve tooling and automation.
• Balance open-source, vendor, and in-house tools for reliability.
