Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer to design, implement, and secure storage solutions for Portsmouth Naval Shipyard IT programs. The role emphasizes enterprise storage, security, and disaster recovery while aligning with DoD standards.

On-site work in Kittery, ME with cybersecurity teams to safeguard data, support incident response, and produce documentation and training for internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Networks & Cybersecurity or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in IT, cybersecurity, and network security with admin/incident response.
• Deep storage tech experience (SAN, NAS, cloud storage).
• Experience with backup/recovery solutions (Veeam/Commvault/Veritas).
• Proficiency in storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS, FC, S3) and file systems.
• Knowledge of encryption standards (AES, TLS/SSL) and security best practices.
• Familiarity with IAM for storage.
• Understanding of ransomware protection and data loss prevention.
• Root-cause analysis and incident response.
• Ability to test/deploy DR workflows in complex environments.
• Cross-functional collaboration across security, IT, and business units.
• Detail-oriented for regulatory compliance.
• Staying updated on threats and storage tech.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and optimize storage architectures (SAN/NAS/cloud).
• Evaluate secure storage hardware/software for performance and retention.
• Apply encryption, access controls, and ransomware protection.
• Develop and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Monitor storage environments and address vulnerabilities and patches.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity to remediate storage threats.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare audit materials.
• Produce technical docs and train teams on secure storage.
