Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure, resilient storage systems on site at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard-driven programs. The role emphasizes encryption, DR planning, and regulatory compliance within defense IT environments.

The candidate will collaborate with cybersecurity and incident response teams, manage complex storage infrastructures (SAN/NAS/cloud), and ensure operations align with DoD cybersecurity policies. A Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Ten (10+) years of experience in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and storage/network security.
• Deep understanding of SAN/NAS, cloud storage, and object storage.
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions (Veeam, Commvault, Veritas).
• Proficient in storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS, FC, S3).
• Knowledge of encryption standards (AES, TLS) and IAM in storage.
• Familiarity with ransomware protection and data loss prevention.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure storage architectures (SAN/NAS/cloud).
• Evaluate secure storage hardware/software for performance and retention.
• Apply encryption and access controls to storage environments.
• Develop and manage backup and DR strategies with testing.
• Monitor storage environments and address vulnerabilities and patches.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and IR teams on storage threats.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare audit materials.
• Produce technical docs and train teams on secure storage protocols.
