Job summary

10x Genomics, Inc. is seeking a Linux systems administrator to design, operate, and secure enterprise and HPC storage across hybrid environments serving multi-petabytes of genomic data. You will implement scalable compute/storage, ensure data protection, and lead incident reviews with on-call rotations.

Candidates should have extensive Linux experience, scripting skills, and strong knowledge of AWS, Terraform, and Ansible. The role emphasizes performance, integrity, and secure data lifecycles.

Qualifications

• 5 years managing petabyte-scale storage (enterprise or HPC) with emphasis on performance and integrity.
• Strong knowledge of data replication and backup technologies.
• Experience with Debian/Ubuntu/Amazon Linux.
• Experience with AWS (S3, EBS, EC2, VPC, IAM).
• Knowledge of NFS/SMB and AD/LDAP with Kerberos.
• Scripting in Bash or Python.
• IaC and configuration management with Ansible, Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design, operate, and document HPC compute/storage across hybrid (on-premises and cloud) environments.
• Architect and maintain storage and compute clusters with CM, patching, and performance tuning.
• Manage off-site/cloud backup, archive, and data replication; ensure backup readiness.
• Enforce data integrity and security compliance; monitor production storage and backup systems.
• Manage data lifecycle of corporate and research datasets; implement DLM policies.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support production environment.
• Lead post-incident reviews to identify root causes and implement fixes.
