Job summary

Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to lead the storage infrastructure across HMSA's datacenters and open systems environments.

In a hybrid role requiring Hawaii residency, you will design, implement, and support storage, backups, DR, and related services, coordinating with vendors and HMSA business units to deliver secure, reliable, high-availability systems and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or technical institute degree or equivalent work experience.
• Five years of relevant information technology work experience.
• Substitutions such as a higher-level degree or certifications and less work experience may be considered.
• Strong understanding of datacenter consolidation, IaaS, private cloud, virtualization technologies.
• Strong OS fundamentals for UNIX/Linux and/or Microsoft platforms.
• VMware virtualization expertise is required.
• Experience with SAN switches/routers and enterprise backup solutions.
• Experience with storage tools (LVM, MPIO, PowerPath, HDLM).
• Knowledge of disaster recovery concepts for storage systems.
• Experience with system monitoring tools and incident remediation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the support of HMSA's storage infrastructure and ensure reliability.
• Develop reference architectures and standards for storage services.
• Implement and secure storage, backups, and SAN infrastructures.
• Provision resources, perform advanced maintenance, replication, DR, and migrations.
• Document Open Systems Storage and Backup environments.
• Provide expert support for SAN, NAS, and backup devices.
• Collaborate with vendors and HMSA teams; coordinate changes and upgrades.
