Job summary

Autonomai Recruitment seeks an experienced Storage Infrastructure Engineer to design, operate and optimise storage platforms across on-premises data centres and AWS for a leading hedge fund. You will work with VMware, Kubernetes and Linux in high‑availability environments, delivering secure, low‑latency storage for trading, research and enterprise workloads.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience with enterprise storage in high-availability environments.
• Experience with AWS EBS, FSx for NetApp ONTAP and S3 provisioning, performance and cost optimisation.
• Deep experience with Pure Storage or VAST Data, ideally both.
• Knowledge of iSCSI, NFS, CIFS/SMB and RoCE networking.
• Strong Linux administration across bare-metal and virtual environments.
• Experience with VMware, AWS EC2 and Kubernetes storage integrations.
• Scripting with Python and IaC tooling (Terraform, Ansible).
• Familiarity with monitoring, capacity planning and performance troubleshooting.
• Understanding of storage security, data lifecycle management and regulatory expectations for financial services.
• Certifications such as NetApp NCDA/NCIE, Pure Storage, AWS Storage, VCP or Kubernetes are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate enterprise storage platforms across on-premises and AWS.
• Administer and optimise AWS storage services including EBS, FSx for NetApp ONTAP and S3.
• Manage Pure Storage and VAST Data platforms—provisioning, capacity planning, upgrades and incident response.
• Design and support block and file storage services using iSCSI, RoCE, NFS and CIFS/SMB.
• Provide storage services for VMware, AWS EC2, Kubernetes and bare-metal Linux environments.
• Support Windows Server and Linux workloads across physical and virtual infrastructure.
• Build automation for provisioning, configuration, monitoring and capacity management using Python and IaC.
• Develop storage observability covering capacity, latency, IOPS, throughput, availability and data-protection status.
• Lead performance analysis and optimisation for latency-sensitive workloads.
• Manage data protection, replication, snapshots, backup integration, DR and recovery testing.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and incident management.
• Produce architecture docs, runbooks and capacity forecasts.
• Collaborate to define storage standards, security controls and best practices.
