Job summary

UMMC in Jackson, MS is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech II to inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrument sets and trays for the OR and other departments. You will operate sterilizers, prep sterile items, and mentor new staff while maintaining high accuracy and productivity.

Some call may be required. Qualifications include HS diploma/GED with 1 year sterile processing or surgical tech experience, and certification options (CBSPD, IAHCSMM, NBSTSA).

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and 1 year of sterile processing or surgical technology experience.
• Certifications options: CSPDT, CSIS, CFER, CSPM, CRCST, CIS, CER, CHL, CST.
• Preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy; basic computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Insures the cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, maintenance, integrity, and preparations of surgical instruments, and equipment for distribution.
• Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures pertaining to cleaning, sterilization, assembling, storage, and/or validation of medical supplies and equipment.
• Ensures compliance with safety, environmental and/or infection control practices.
• Maintains applicable records and files; operates sterilization equipment and washers and maintains quality/safety controls documentation.
