Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Advanced Medical Supply Technician to perform decontamination, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of reusable medical devices, while providing distribution support for the medical center.

The role includes assembling highly complex instrument sets such as for open heart, major orthopedic joint, cardiovascular, craniotomy, and endoscopic instrumentation.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work
• One year above high school with health care related courses such as sterile processing, nursing assistant, operating room and surgical technician courses or related education/experience

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, prepare, and sterilize highly complex surgical equipment (open heart, ortho, cardiovascular, etc).
• Troubleshoot reprocessing equipment and initiate service calls when needed
• Assist Department leadership with SOPs and competencies
• Receive contaminated RMD in decontamination area and prepare for sterilization
