Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) at the LTC Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center.

The MST will provide sterilization, decontamination, and distribution support for the medical center’s Sterile Processing Service. Qualified candidates will have six months of relevant experience or education plus health care related coursework and the ability to read and interpret SOPs.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience performing the work or providing understanding of the work.
• One year above high school that included at least 6 semester hours in health care related courses (sterile processing, nursing assistant, operating room tech).
• Equivalent combination of experience and education is acceptable for entry level.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of reusable medical equipment.
• Assemble basic sets and trays for use in the medical center and operating room.
• Operate sterilizers and reprocess equipment per SOPs and safety guidelines.
• Prepare operating room case carts daily according to the surgery schedule.
