Job summary

The Supervisory Medical Supply Technician (SPS) is based in the Sterile Processing Service at the West Haven VA Medical Center in Connecticut. This full-time position (40 hours per week) leads a team of MSTs and ensures compliance with SOPs and patient safety standards.

The assignment covers oversight of decontamination, preparation, sterilization, monitoring, and distribution of reusable medical equipment.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience demonstrating ability to perform the work or understanding of the work.
• Education: one year above high school with health care related courses, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Foreign education must be evaluated for equivalence to U.S. credentials.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a group of Medical Supply Technicians and manage scheduling, attendance, and workload.
• Direct staff in decontamination, preparation, sterilization, monitoring and distribution of reusable medical equipment.
• Communicate SOP changes and ensure adherence across the unit.
