The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Birmingham, AL seeks a Supervisory Medical Supply Technician, Chief, Sterile Processing Service to lead the SPS team, oversee administrative management, and ensure compliant processing of critical and semi-critical reusable medical equipment.

You will develop SOPs, train staff on setup and reprocessing, manage staffing plans, monitor regulatory compliance, and coordinate with committees to improve patient safety and operational performance.

Formación

• Education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment.
• This position is with Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs.

Responsabilidades

• Oversight of supervision and administrative management of SPS; reports to the Associate Director of patient Care Services.
• Oversees processing of critical and semi-critical reusable medical equipment (RME).
• Develops, reviews and approves SOPs for RME used by multiple patients.
• Oversees training in setup, use, reprocessing, and maintenance of competency.
• Establishes workplace priorities, assigns work and monitors staffing plans to meet workforce needs.
• Monitors compliance with regulatory or VA directives and ensures safe work environment.
• Manages SPS equipment (sterilizers, washer/disinfector, ultrasonic, sealers) and requests replacements as needed.
