Job summary

Hillsboro Medical Center is seeking a Lead Sterile Processing Technician in Hillsboro, Oregon. You will work independently under the Sterile Processing Manager, using the SPM system to track instrumentation and ensure proper sterilization and readiness of instruments.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment records, coordinating with Surgical Instrument Resource Coordinator, stocking code carts, preparing complete sterile and non-sterile trays, and guiding staff in absence of the manager.

Qualifications

• Two years hospital Sterile Processing experience.
• Sterile processing technician certification (CRCST or CBSPD).
• High school graduation or GED (preferred).
• Bilingual skills a plus (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Uses SPM system to track surgical instrumentation and sterilization processes.
• Maintains records of equipment function.
• Operates cart washers, ultrasonic, sterilizers, computers and telephones.
• Preforms all assignments within Sterile Processing with minimal supervision.
• Maintains inventory of sterile supplies and equipment in department.
• Restocks code carts and documents in code cart log.
• Provides complete case carts to Surgical Services.
• Monitors working order of surgical instruments and sends for repairs if needed.
• Secures department and turns off equipment before closing.
• Conducts rounds on designated nursing units to gather equipment for reprocessing.
• Follows manufacturers guidelines to sterilize and maintain sterile supplies and instruments.
• Provides Surgery Services and Birth Center with clean, complete sterile instrument sets.
• Prepares complete sterile and non-sterile trays for use in nursing and other patient care departments.
• Prioritizes and coordinates instrument and supply availability with surgery requirements.
