Job summary

General Motors seeks a Steering System Senior Design Release Engineer to lead steering system development, working with suppliers and internal teams to deliver safe, high-quality components.

You will coach suppliers, drive design validation with FEA and modal analysis, manage releases, and coordinate cross-functional activities across purchasing, manufacturing, and supplier quality. Some travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 5+ years post-graduation experience in design release or related role.
• Strong grasp of engineering theory and system integration.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Travel availability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Product Development Team for steering system components.
• Manage the design, release, and integration into GM systems with precision.
• Complete program ICDs, DFMEAs, and Peer Reviews on time.
• Oversee pre-production builds and ensure test readiness.
• Drive design validation using FEA, modal analysis, and virtual builds.
• Identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities with purchasing, manufacturing and supplier quality.
• Monitor warranty data and address product issues.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Some travel.
