Job summary

Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking a Superintendent - Steel for our Old Saybrook, CT project. You will oversee all on-site steel-related activities, coordinating with engineers, fabricators, and crews to ensure safe, timely, and accurate erection in a complex civil setting.

The role requires deep knowledge of structural steel systems, drawings, welding, and bolting, plus proven leadership on steel-intensive projects.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of civil or structural construction with a focus on steel erection.
• Experience as a superintendent or foreman on steel-intensive projects.
• Knowledge of structural steel systems, drawings, welding, and bolting.
• Experience on movable bridge projects (bascule, swing, or lift) required.
• Ability to read structural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred; NCCER or other steel erection certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Steel Work Oversight: supervise the erection of structural and miscellaneous steel components.
• Project Coordination: collaborate with PMs, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and installation of steel materials.
• Site Management: oversee daily field operations specific to steel work; monitor productivity, equipment usage, and safety compliance.
• Quality Assurance: ensure steel erection meets quality standards and conduct inspections.
• Scheduling & Planning: develop and maintain schedules for steel activities in coordination with project timelines.
• Safety Compliance: enforce site safety protocols and promote a strong safety culture among steel crews.
• Problem Solving: identify and resolve field issues related to steel erection.
• Documentation: maintain daily reports, logs, and inspection records.
• Stakeholder Communication: act as liaison between field crews, project management, and design teams.
