Job summary

Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (SCC) is seeking a senior-level Steam Plant Specialist to lead and manage high-pressure boiler operations at the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island. You will supervise maintenance, manage budgets, and drive safety and efficiency across steam, electricity, air quality, and chilled water systems.

The role requires licensure, 4+ years supervisory power-plant experience, and the ability to plan facility improvements.

Qualifications

Applicable steam engineer's license.
Four years supervisory experience with power plant operations and related systems (feed water, coal, gas, fuel oil, high-pressure boiler, water chilling, combustion controls).
Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the day-to-day workload for the Steam plant operations.
Supervise preventative maintenance programs and monitor daily log of activities.
Evaluate operating issues and help bring them to resolution.
Maintain budget and cost control devices for efficient production of steam, electricity, clean air and chilled water.
Plan for expansion and improvements of Steam plant facilities and equipment.
Ensure equipment is repaired and maintained to meet operation and regulatory standards.
