Job summary

Devoted Health seeks a Senior Statutory Reporting Accountant to support the compilation of Statutory financial statements and reconciliations for a growing set of health insurance entities.

You will prepare timely financial reporting for state regulators, assist in reinsurance accounting initiatives, and collaborate with the Statutory Reporting Manager to enhance processes and controls.

Qualifications

  • Reinsurance accounting knowledge from implementation to reporting.
  • Proficiency in Excel with complex formulas.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite (ERP) and Workiva (Wdesk).
  • Proven track record in a changing, complex financial reporting environment.
  • Strong initiative, teamwork, and customer-service orientation.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Statutory financial statements for NAIC and state regulators.
  • Prepare supporting filings for statutory statements.
  • Assist audits by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries.
  • Support testing and development of NetSuite and other ad hoc reports.
  • File statutory statements with NAIC and states by deadlines.
  • Lead/participate in ad hoc statutory reporting projects (e.g., reinsurance).
  • Overtime as needed during peak periods.
  • Review statutory financial statements and filings as needed.

  • Assist the Statutory Reporting unit with the daily tasks related to the compilation of Statutory financial statements, reconciliations, process enhancement and other critical Statutory accounting and reporting projects as the number of health insurance entities has grown significantly.

Your Responsibilities and Impact will include:
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Statutory financial statements to ensure timely and accurate presentation to the NAIC and the appropriate state regulatory authorities (Health Statement).
  • Prepare all supplemental filings that accompany the quarterly and annual Statutory financial statements as required by the appropriate state regulatory authorities.
  • Support and assist in various Department/Division of Insurance audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and adhering to deadlines.
  • Support and assist in testing the development of NetSuite and other ad hoc reports to facilitate the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual Statutory financial statements.
  • Assist in the filing of the monthly, quarterly and annual Statutory financial statements using appropriate vendor software, submit filings to the NAIC, and individual states while adhering to all deadlines.
  • Lead and participate in ad hoc projects supporting Statutory Reporting and Finance needs as they arise (e.g., reinsurance accounting).
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary during peak reporting periods.
  • Responsibilities also will entail assisting in the review of certain Statutory financial statements and supplemental filings as necessary.
Required skills and experience:
  • Reinsurance accounting experience - from implementation to reporting
  • Advance excel proficiency, including experience with complex formulas
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite (ERP) and Workiva (Wdesk) is a significant plus
  • A demonstrable track record of success / delivery in a changing and complex financial reporting environment.
  • A dynamic team player who is highly motivated, a self-starter, can demonstrate great initiative, and is customer-service oriented.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines on a consistent basis.
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Must be analytical, hands on, and expected to be an immediate contributor.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple demands and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify actions necessary to complete tasks and obtain results.
  • Maintain high ethical standards at all times, to include maintaining the confidentiality of financial and other sensitive information consistent with professional and regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment where every day we try to develop and optimize our operations and processes.
Desired skills and experience:
  • Experience with healthcare and insurance industries
  • Experience with review of statutory filings
  • Exposure in leveraging AI tools to automate complex financial reconciliations, improve the accuracy of statutory filings, and streamline data collection across multiple jurisdictions.
Salary Range:

$80,000-$100,000

The pay range listed for this position is the range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting. Once the interview process begins, your talent partner will provide additional information on the compensation for the role, along with additional information on our total rewards package. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
