Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Manager, Statistics to provide statistical leadership for R&D projects, including clinical trials and patient safety. You will work with experts across disciplines to advance medicines to patients.

You will develop protocols and analysis plans, perform analyses, and deliver high-quality outputs for regulatory submissions while guiding cross-functional teams and communicating complex concepts clearly.

Qualifications

• MS (with 8+ years of experience) or PhD (with 4+ years of experience) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Machine learning and AI or a highly related field.
• Strong skills in conducting complex statistical analyses and modeling (including multiple testing, Bayesian analysis, mixed models).
• Experience with machine learning, deep learning and AI predictive modeling; data-processing, model training and deployment.
• Proficiency in production-level code for end-to-end pipelines in Python and R; familiarity with VS Code and version control tools.

Responsibilities

• Independently conduct research and develop statistical methods for trials, ML and AI models.
• Lead design, analysis and reporting for clinical or scientific programs; develop protocols and analysis plans.
• Provide programming specs for derived variables and analysis datasets; guide data preparation for database lock.
• Perform statistical analyses per analysis plan and ensure timely, high-quality outputs.
• Develop data presentation strategies and collaborate on publications; ensure accuracy of reports and figures.
• Build cross-functional relationships and explain statistical concepts to non-statisticians.
