Job summary

SMX is seeking an accomplished technology leader to shape and deliver mission-critical government solutions. You will drive strategic product development, oversee modernization efforts, and guide cross-functional teams from discovery to deployment in regulated environments.

The role requires deep experience with enterprise architectures, cloud platforms, and governance across FedRAMP, HIPAA, CJIS, and IRS Pub 1075, with a strong emphasis on business impact and revenue growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years in enterprise technology - architecture, engineering, or technical consulting.
• 3+ years contributing to or leading business development and capture activities in government services.
• 3+ years directly leading engineering teams with mentoring and performance management.
• Ability to translate market trends into productized service lines and reusable frameworks.
• Deep modernization experience from legacy to cloud-native (containers, microservices).
• Application architecture across large agency portfolios; API design and integration.
• CI/CD pipeline design and release engineering.
• Strong .NET expertise: C#, ASP.NET Core, .NET Framework 4.8.
• SQL Server / EF Core with performance tuning and zero-downtime migrations.
• Hands-on AWS depth at application layer (ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, etc).
• AI/ML practical experience (Bedrock, SageMaker); data & analytics fluency.
• Experience in regulated environments (FedRAMP Moderate, HIPAA, CJIS, IRS Pub 1075).
• Excellent communication: architecture docs, executive presentations, proposals.

Responsibilities

• Identify and shape new business opportunities by engaging government stakeholders and mapping pain points to SMX capabilities.
• Translate market trends and client feedback into new solution offerings and go-to-market strategies.
• Contribute to RFP/RFQ responses with technical approaches and solution architectures.
• Drive partner relationships in multi-agency, multi-vendor environments.
• Lead solution architecture from discovery through implementation with governance artifacts.
• Champion modernization assessments and present disposition options with cost/risk estimates.
• Own the technical narrative and reference patterns for consistent delivery.
• Stand up operations for modernized apps: deployment automation, observability, SLOs.
• Serve as trusted technical advisor to senior government executives on strategic impact.
• Lead and grow delivery teams; drive staffing plans and performance conversations.
• Mentor mid-level architects/engineers and elevate the technical bar.
