Job Overview

Position: HW/SW Design Engineer (Waynesboro, VA) – 100% on‑site.

Relocation assistance may be available.

Travel: 10% of time.

Clearance required: U.S. Government Secret Clearance and Special Program Access.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design creative and flexible HW/SW solutions with a motivated team of experts.
  • Develop software covering real‑time data analytics, pre and post processing, UI/UX design, instrument drivers, utilities, process automation, and firmware for simulation and control.
  • Integrate SW/HW components and perform requirements verification.
  • Support investigation, resolution, and documentation of product anomalies.
  • Consider Design to Cost throughout the development cycle.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of experience, Master’s with 12 years, Ph.D. with 10 years in STEM or related fields; or 4 years of experience may substitute for a degree.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • Experience with SDLC and Agile methodology.
  • Proficiency in C, C#, C++, and Python.
  • Experience with software integration.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or a related STEM discipline.
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with PLC/HMI software (e.g., RS View, RS Logix 5000).
  • Experience with hardware driver development.
  • Experience with FPGA programming.
  • Firmware design experience a plus.
  • Experience with RTOS.
  • Experience with LabWindows CVI or AMAX.
  • Technical lead experience.
  • Active Secret clearance.
