About the Role
This role joins the India Partner Integrations team within Warner Bros. Discovery's Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) organisation, which builds applications for web, mobile, tablets, connected TVs, consoles, and streaming devices. The Partner Integrations team ensures customers can seamlessly authenticate and authorize across all WBD brands, and the India Development Centre has been established to support global streaming services and assist international teams. In this position, the engineer will lead the design, development, and operation of high-performance, scalable platform systems, influence technical strategy, and mentor engineers through Senior and Staff levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate multiple high-performance, stable, and scalable platform systems shipped to production, including global-scale services across non-production and production environments.
- Drive best practices and set standards for multiple teams within a platform domain, including engineering excellence, operational excellence, and security best practices that protect customer data.
- Influence domain- and organisational-level strategy, contributing to multi-quarter planning, roadmap prioritisation, and technical vision alongside engineering and product leadership.
- Make high-impact decisions and trade-offs between immediate and long-term business needs, including build-versus-extend-versus-deprecate choices and standards for large-volume transaction systems and data migration workflows.
- Champion data-driven decision-making and innovation to solve ambiguous problems, producing reliable and delightful customer experiences at scale.
- Build consensus on architectural and technical direction across global, distributed teams, holding a strong point of view while remaining open-minded.
- Lead major functional and architectural changes to existing and new software systems, collaborating across team boundaries.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues by reviewing source code, logs, operational metrics, stack traces, and traces to resolve incidents and identify systemic learnings.
- Provide guidance on design, coding, operational best practices, and technical documentation (LADRs/ADRs and runbooks); make other engineers more productive by sharing knowledge and simplifying complex concepts; and propose self-serve workflows with guardrails where manual processes do not scale.
- Establish and improve data-driven infrastructure and service KPIs (performance, scale, availability, reliability, security), mentor engineers through Senior and Staff levels, and bring operational depth including on-call, incident response, and cross-team incident coordination.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 13–16+ years of total software development experience and strong computer science fundamentals.
- Proficiency in additional programming languages beyond Golang.
- Experience and deep understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and a cloud provider (AWS or comparable).
- Strong technical understanding of Kubernetes-based microservice architectures, messaging services, database services, API gateways, service mesh, and infrastructure-as-code technologies and processes.
- Great understanding of distributed systems challenges, microservice-based architectures, and asynchronous communication (e.g., gRPC and Kafka).
- Ability to implement alerting, metrics, and logging using tools such as Prometheus, CloudWatch, Kibana, and PagerDuty, and to operationalise observability into actionable KPIs.
- Practical knowledge of persistence and caching solutions such as PostgreSQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, and Caffeine.
- Familiarity with asynchronous, non-blocking, functional/reactive programming, including hands‑on experience with frameworks such as Spring WebFlux, Vert.x, and Node.js.
- Proven experience building and operating global‑scale platform services in production and non‑production environments.
- Track record of meaningful contribution to technical vision, strategy, and execution in platform systems, influencing outcomes beyond a single team's backlog.
- Experience with large‑volume transaction systems and data migration workflows, with emphasis on quality, precision, accuracy, and regression safety.
- Knack for operationalising workflows into self‑serve systems with appropriate guardrails.
- Operational experience including on‑call, incident response, and playbooks, and comfort collaborating with remote peers across geographies and time zones.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with particular emphasis on technical documentation and clear explanation of complex ideas to varied audiences.
Preferred Skills
- Deep hands‑on experience in Golang.
- Experience with AWS as the cloud provider (AWS preferred over comparable providers).
Workplace
Benefits & Perks
- A great place to work.
- Fast‑track growth opportunities.
