Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a senior software engineer to join the Boundary Services team within the DTC software engineering group. You will help scale the Gateway, Service Mesh, and related microservices across AWS accounts, addressing authentication, authorization, and Istio deployment challenges.

You will own features end-to-end, review code, and contribute to design discussions while mentoring teammates and upholding high standards of reliability and performance.

Qualifications

About the Role

The Boundary Services team, part of DTC's software engineering group, is responsible for building and maintaining the Gateway, Service Mesh and a few microservices that provide common functionality to client and backend services. The team is a fast-growing, global engineering group crucial to Warner Bros. Discovery's future. The senior software engineer will solve problems related to API gateway concerns, cross-cluster service meshes, authentication/authorization, and the management of large-scale Istio deployments across many AWS accounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a recognized subject matter expert for one or more production software systems, independently shipping high-quality features or changes and working on problems of diverse scope.
• Create functional-level impact and deliver complex features, driving clarity and defining problems proactively.
• Devise solutions based on limited information and precedent to adapt existing approaches, using evaluation, judgement and interpretation to select the right course of action.
• Work autonomously within the team's software development lifecycle practices, delivering high-quality results the first time and improving code, documentation and results with each iteration.
• Contribute to an inclusive and supportive engineering culture, with work performed independently and reviewed at critical points.
• Influence peers through code reviews and design reviews, communicating effectively through technical documentation and interactions with stakeholders and adjacent teams, adapting style to differing audiences.
• Maintain the long-term health of code, monitoring, alerting and documentation in parallel with software development responsibilities.
• Help newcomers become productive with the team's processes and optimise team mechanisms to drive efficiency.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience with technologies used on the stack, including Python, Kubernetes, Terraform, bash and CI/CD systems.
• 3+ years' experience with cloud technology, or strong familiarity with cloud technology and demonstrated ability to become an expert.
• Familiarity with networking concepts in microservice architectures.
• 1+ year experience with AI technologies.
• A passion for building developer tooling, automation and platform solutions that deliver improvements for internal and public customers.
• Ability to deliver high-quality results the first time and improve code, documentation and results with each iteration.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms preferred.
