Role Overview

We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer to raise the technical bar across our full-stack platform. You'll own architecture for major initiatives, make build-vs-buy calls, and mentor engineers across the team, while staying hands-on with code. This is a senior IC role: you're expected to own outcomes end to end in a lean, fast-moving team rather than working within a narrow specialty. We're looking for someone who is proficient in AI as a working tool, not an AI research or ML infra specialist: comfortable integrating LLMs into product features, writing effective prompts, and making sensible calls on model choice, cost, and latency, in the same way you'd reason about database schema design or front-end performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Own technical architecture for major platform initiatives, setting direction that other engineers build against.
• Design and develop scalable, high-quality full-stack web applications using modern front-end and back-end technologies.
• Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into product features where they add real value (e.g., compensation insights, in-product assistants), with attention to cost, latency, and reliability.
• Lead by example in code reviews, design reviews, and incident response; set and uphold engineering standards for testing, documentation, and observability.
• Mentor and unblock other engineers, and partner closely with product, design, and go-to-market to translate ambiguous problems into shipped, measurable solutions.
• Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, including trade-offs on cost, risk, and timeline.
• Debug and optimize systems end to end to ensure high performance, scalability, and security.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience for senior or 8+ years for staff in a product-focused full-stack role, with a track record of owning systems end to end.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, CSS (we use TailwindCSS), and back-end development using TypeScript.
• Working proficiency with AI/LLMs as part of the product. Calling and orchestrating LLM APIs, prompt engineering, structured output and tool calling, and cost-aware usage (model selection, caching, batching).
• Experience building scalable and extensible solutions across the stack that can support multiple product lines.
• Track record of building fast-growing SaaS products and shipping intuitive, high-quality products with strong attention to detail.
• Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can turn unclear problems into high-quality shipped products.
